Association Dues-

Please Venmo your $20 association dues to @Kaylene-Cragun.  If you don't have Venmo, give cash to a friend how does have it and have them pay for you.

Assignments-

Please block out any dates you will not be available in Arbiter.  It is a major scheduling hassle when assignments are declined.  Please accept your assignment(s) as soon as possible. If you are blocking out part of a day, make sure the time available is the time you can be at the school and ready.  For example, if you block out 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, that means you can be at any school in your association, ready to go, at 4:00 PM.

2020 High School Volleyball Official's Guidelines-

  • We are not the COVID Police. The school, coaches, players, etc. are responsible for taking proper precautions to stay safe.
  • Show up to matches already dressed in uniform. Schools prefer to not provide dressing rooms for officials this season, given the current health crisis.
  • Bring your own water bottle... It is strongly advised that you do not drink or fill your water bottle from the team’s water coolers.
  • Bring your own hand sanitizer, don’t rely on the school to have it for you.
  • Bring and use your own pens if you need to fill something out or sign the score sheet.
  • Expect a temperature check, and to fill out a questionnaire, when you enter the school.
  • Masks or face coverings should be worn upon arrival, and should be kept on until the match begins. Some type of covering should also be worn upon departure from the school.
  • Minimize contact and fraternization with coaches and players.
  • During the pre match conference social distancing should be practiced, and no contact between officials and team members should occur.
  • Prior to the coin toss, verify with the home team whether or not teams will switch benches between sets. If they are not switching, it is not necessary to do the change of court signal, just instruct the teams back to their benches.
  • When instructing the table and/or line judges, social distancing should be used. The official should also wear a mask or face covering.
  • Inquire if the home team has flags to use for the match. If not, use your flags. Please remember to sanitize them after the match.
  • If you, as the Second Referee, are uncomfortable touching the lineup sheets, please bring paper to copy the lineups on. This way you can properly check them prior to each set. If you prefer to use the lineups sheets, it is suggested you sanitize upon the completion of checking lineups.
  • During play, it is usually at the discretion of the referee whether or not to wear a face covering or use an electronic whistle. Unless the school states otherwise.
  • The Second Referee should have a face covering or mask ready to be used to talk to coaches or the table in between points.
  • Teams are instructed by the UHSAA to not shake hands prior to or after the match. Please do not instruct them to do so.
    • To begin the match, instruct the teams to their end lines, the R1 will whistle, the teams will wave to each other, the starting players will take their positions on the court, and the non starters will proceed to the team bench.
    • To end the match, the R1 will whistle and do the end of match signal. The R1 will whistle again, the teams will stay on their sides, and wave to their opponents.
  • BE FLEXIBLE Schools have the right to set safety guidelines for the match. Please adhere to each school’s request. Be prepared to follow whatever guidelines are in place for each venue.
